Built out of chalk in the Neolithic era, and nobody knows for sure what it was used for.

The Avebury area in southern England is wondrous and strange.

The rolling fields of the blissfully beautiful countryside contain all sorts of prehistoric monuments, stone circles and mysterious mounds.

Like so much of England, the landscape is man-made yet completely natural. There is a gentle harmony.
